The Hong Kong Australia Business Association - South Australian
Chapter Inc., hosted a successful 2009 Annual Business Awards
Dinner on Friday 7 August 2009 at the National Wine Centre.
The event is themed "Showcasing Leaders in South Australia's
leaders in business, politics and sport". Three South Australian
successful figures Senator Penny Wong (Federal Minister for
Climate Change and Water), Peter Hanlon (Westpac Group Executive,
Retail and Business Banking) and Mark Bickley (media and sports
personality and now Assistant Coach of Adelaide Crows) spoke
at a panel discussion facilitated by Kelly Nester of Channel
9 News.
Ms Lorna Wong, Director of Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office
based in Sydney delivered an update about business opportunities
in Hong Kong. Over 200 people attended the event including
government representatives, business leaders and professionals
from various industries.
The entertainment included an interview with the head chef
of the National Wine Centre about the three course dinner
(made from fresh South Australian local produce) served on
the night and an exciting fashion parade featuring local design
talent from the students of Adelaide Tafe.

Entries close Friday July 3rd and will be judged by a well qualified
independent judging panel on the value of their contribution to
the South Australian economy through trade with Hong Kong SAR or
China.
The finalists and winners will be announced at the Awards dinner
on Friday 7th August at the National Wine Centre. The theme of the
Awards dinner will be 'Showcasing Leaders in South Australia' and
local leaders in business, politics and sport will speak about South
Australia and trading with Hong Kong.
The Hong Kong Business Association is a global not-for-profit business
network established by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council.
The HKABA SA Chapter is run by South Australian business people
who aim to help SA businesses successfully enter the Hong Kong market.
It is a member of the Council for International Trade and Commerce
of South Australia
HONG KONG EXPORT SUCCESS IN UNCERTAIN TIMES
"South Australian businesses are showing surprising resilience,
and many have thrived in the past year despite adverse economic
conditions", says Patrick Ho. President, Hong Kong Australia Business

The Association has been impressed by the achievements of many South
Australian businesses in the past year, and expects to receive a
high standard of entries for its annual Business Awards despite
the economic climate.
