Report on visit to Macau on 4th May 2009


Here is a summary of the visit to Macau yesterday...Mon 04May...

Peter Woolford, Abalone Down Under, Nigel Edmonds-Wilson, Trade Start Export Adviser and myself travelled HK/Macau/HK by Ferry.

KY Lee introduced our group to three prospects interested in importing South Australian Abalone:-

         1) Mr Savio Leong, Ocean Club Coffee House
         2) Mr Leong Kuok Cheong, Importer and Trader
         3) Ms Jocelyn Wong, Director of Marketing and Public Relations, Hotel Royal Macau

KY acted as interpreter with Mr Leong and Mr Cheong, Ms Wong spoke fluent English.

Peter Woolford showed his 'Abalone Down Under' power point display to each buyer.


Mr Leong is interested in a South Australian Food Promotion for the Ocean Club Coffee House and his other Macau Restaurants.

Mr Cheong identified the current limitations for abalone import into Macau and re-export opportunities to PRD China Provinces.

Ms Wong presented an impressive summary of the 2008 South African/Hotel Royal Food and Wine Promotion and a request for a 2009 promotion plan to be developed with South Australian exporters.

Ms Wong arranged a hotel inspection tour for our party...an exclusive and impressive property in a residential area within inner Macau city.


KY briefed our party in his AUSTRADE Macau Office, on the major events scheduled for 2009 including the 10th Anniversary of 1999 Handover in December and 60th National Day Celebrations 1st October.
