Doing Business Differently in Challenging Times

A presentation by Richard Harris, CEO, South Australian Film Corporation (SAFC) A 50-strong attendees gathered at Lenzerheide Restaurant, the Tuesday, 16 June 2009 luncheon host by Exporters. Club to listen to Richard Harris, CEO of SAFC to share his insights. Richard has been instrumental in developing and implementing a number of new innovative initiatives to grow both local production companies and the overall size and scale of the South Australian film production sector. In what are challenging times for independent production both in Australia and around the world, the SAFC's new initiatives aim to position South Australian producers to build better co-production partnerships and export their products to national and international audiences.

Richard explained what is necessary to establish a long-term and sustainable export Film industry, within South Australia, through innovative and effective initiatives. The luncheon covered

• The South Australian film Industry and the innovative tools the SAFC are using to develop long term production and export sustainability • Core concepts for innovation in difficult times and how innovation is necessary in the current GFC
• How the SAFC achieved effective results with a low budget and gained support from acclaimed industry professionals
• How the SAFC have geared copyright benefits to South Australian producers to enable them to build their production businesses within the state.
