Hong Kong safety officials in Adelaide
Updated 4 August 2009
A high-ranking delegation from Hong Kong is in Adelaide on a study
tour focusing on safety in the construction industry.
The delegation is led by the territory’s Occupational Health and
Safety Council Executive Director, Mr Tang Wah Shing.
The 10-member group comprises officials from Hong Kong and Macau’s
Labour, Housing, Water and Drainage departments.
Delegates are specifically examining the issue of safe design in
the construction industry.
During their four-day stay in Adelaide, the group will be hosted
by officials from SafeWork SA and visit several local building sites,
the premises of Samaras Structural Engineers and the Christies Beach
Wastewater Treatment Plant.
The delegates will receive presentations from SA construction industry
members representing builders, contractors and unions and also meet
members of the SafeWork SA Advisory Committee, headed by local business
identity, Tom Phillips.
The group leaves for Sydney on tomorrow.
