Daily Report:-

Sunday 05 July...

All participants successfully negotiated the Qantas flight schedule Adelaide to Sydney and the transfer to the Sydney International terminal for the

Sydney – Hong Kong flight.

I met the Delegation group in the Arrival Hall in HK International Airport...tired and weary from a long day of air travel!

After a short time we were in a dedicated minibus on the way to our delegation hotel, the South Pacific in Wanchai, Hong Kong Island.

I made a brief introduction to give every a brief summary of the next two days activities and some basic tourist information.

Hotel rooms were pre-allocated and with luggage in hand they made their way to have a restful night in preparation for the day ahead.

Monday 06 July...

Early morning call @ 0700L

Breakfast @ 0730 ...

Seated together in the Level 2 Restaurant....everyone reasonably rested and looking forward to the day ahead.

Hotel Shuttle bus @ 0915L to the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre.

After disembarking the bus and a short walk to the HKTDC Dragon Lounge, a briefing by HKTDC Aust, Marketing Manager, Ms Toni Wade.

Everyone received a Welcome Kit:- VIP Card, Trade Fair Catalogue, Fashion Show tickets and event Information

Walk to Hall 1A to visit the Booth of World Wide Wearables and meet Director, Michael W Higgs

House Show 2 @ 1430L in Room N101...the real thing...!

Effects lighting, loud music, and fashion model parading amazing creations by young Hong Kong designers

Interviews and photos with the young designers,  and their models...stunning opportunity

HKTDC Trade Show Networking Reception @ 1830L...

International buyers, photographs, speeches, business card draw   

Ferry ride to Kowloon and Canton Road, High End fashion retail Site inspection @ 1930L ...

Delegation Group Dinner @ 2030...Fat Angelo’s, Minden Avenue, Kowloon...

time to relax and enjoy some Italian Food and Sangria

Return to Hong Kong Island and South Pacific Hotel

Tuesday 07 July...

Early morning call @ 0700L

Breakfast @ 0730 ...

Kayla Bath not well and may need medical treatment for low blood sugar...monitored during the morning.

Participants make their own way to HKCEC and visit exhibitors for design ideas and product sourcing

Depart for Sham Shui Po @ 1430...Ferry to Kowloon; MTR from Tsim Sha Tsui Station to Sham Shui Po...Exit B2

Walk the streets of Sham Shui Po to source fabric and trim samples ...some difficulty finding the specific items...

Street names in map all in Chinese...we push-on, asking for directions as we go...!

Some participants return to the South Pacific Hotel by taxi.

Meet in Hotel Lobby @ 1930, walk to Time Square, (near the hotel) and consider several restaurants for Dinner.

Wednesday 08 July...

Early morning call @ 0700L

Breakfast @ 0730 ...

Hotel Shuttle to HKCEC @ 0845

Walk to Harbour Centre for briefing with Australian Consul- General, Mr. Les Luck, and general discussion

Presentations by SA Government Business Development Manager, Ms. Alice Jim, and

Austrade Business Development Manager ( Fashion Industry) Ms Rebecca Hsu

Briefing on China Fashion Industry by Mr Roger McNicholas, mhm HK Office, Management Consultant and HKABA-SA Corporate Member

Consul-General provided more information on Sham Shui Po markets and map for the participants

General Q & A.

Mr Patrick Ma, mhm Business Analyst to escort group on Thu 09 Jul to the HK Island Retail Fashion streets and

re-visit Sham Shui Po for more samples

Difficult to arrange interviews with the young designers...more official photographers and media interviews

Participants were escorted to Time Square, Wanchai for a choice of dinner options

Thursday 09 July...

Meet in Hotel Lobby @ 1000L

Mr Patrick Ma, mhm escorted the participants to Time Square to inspect several retail outlets.

Some of the stores were not due to open until 1100/1130L, so the group walked to Fashion Walk, Patterson Street, Causeway Bay

After a brief visit, take MTR to Sheung Wan Station and  visit the Western Market.

Fabric and material available in lengths to purchase for individual designs.

MTR from Sheung Wan to Sham Shui Po Station and revisit Fabric market for fabrics and trims.

Participants moved around to make their purchases and then returned to the hotel by Taxi/MTR/Star Ferry

Friday 10 July...

Morning free until 1200L

Meet in the Hotel Lobby and walk to Times Square.

MTR from Causeway Bay to Tsim Sha Tsui Station and exit to Granville  Road.

Inspect the ‘Factory’ outlet stores for new designs and pricing levels

Walk to Nathan Road and Kowloon Park shopping strip, followed by Canton Road for more fashion and designer labels

Meet in Marco Polo HK Hotel Lobby @ 1700L

Taxi to the Offices of World Wide Wearables/Marble Rich Trading for a Ladies Market briefing by Michael W Higgs

MTR from Jordon to Yau Ma Tei Station and walk to Dundas Street, Monkok for tour of Ladies Market streets

Return to Hotel by Taxi/MTR/Star Ferry

Saturday 11 July....

Morning and Afternoon free until 1700L

Tamara and Denise Moldovan check-out of the South Pacific Hotel in the morning and transfer by Taxi to

HK Airport Express Station. Check-in for Qantas flights HKG/SYD/ADL, then train to Lantau Island for visit to Disney Land Amusement Park

Meet in Hotel Lobby for Taxi to Chater Gardens, Central to meet tafeSA Fashion Industry Lecturers for Dinner

Taxi to the Cafe Dec at the Peak

After Dinner, view city lights from a vantage point and take lots of photos , then return to Central via Peak Tram

Participants free to explore Lan Kwai Fong and/or return to Hotels

Sunday 12 July...

Morning and Afternoon free until 1700L

Maria and Sofia Tsantes remaining in HK for one more night then travel to Shenzhen for further sourcing opportunities

Check-out of South Pacific Hotel @ 1830L and transfer to HK Airport Express Station

Check-in for Qantas flights HKG/PER/ADL and Airport Express Station to HK International Airport

Monday 13 July....
