The 2009 HKIWS Fair was (has been) a very well organised
event for over 500 International Exhibitors and a wide range
of Buyers. (Our Members/Exhibitors as well as visiting potential
buyers were very please.) HKTDC Exhibition staff were very
helpful (and always available to offer help) with setup
of the booth, furniture and fittings on Setup Day and during
the event.
William Lin, AUSTRADE and Alice Jim, SA Govt BDM were always
on-hand to provide assistance to resolve a range of issues
and introduce international buyers.
TDC Aust staff - Toni Wade and Peter Bosevski ensured all
the Wine Australia Exhibitors were briefed on specific event
details in the program. HKABA-SA's Booth CD11 proved to
be a popular point for buyers to gather and taste exceptional
wine from the Barossa and McLaren Vale regions. There was
an excellent supply of clean tasting glasses for (that made
it easier) for sampling the wines.
Wine Australia Branding and Booth Design attracted a steady
flow of buyers, except for the Public Day which was disappointing
for the Exhibitors (entitled to query strategy). Booth allocations
for (the) Barossa Wine & Grape, WA Wines and HKABA-SA (
Barossa and McLaren Vale) Exhibitors provided (was) a good
balance of Australian wines for buyers to taste.
Australia's now has an agreement to be a "Partner Country"
which will be very important for the 2010 HKIWS Exhibitors
to attract new buyers from the region.
The "Common Area" provided Exhibitors with space for buyer
meetings and presentations as needed.
I also attended the Hong Kong Tourism Board "Wine & Dine
Festival" 30 Oct - 01 Nov in the new West Kowloon zone (and
agree with Jock's comments). I'm looking forward to coming
back to HK at the end of November for our HKABA-SA 2009
HK Forum Delegation and visit by HKABA-SA's Patron and Lt.
Governor, Mr Hieu Van Le.
